Does anybody know why guyanese-chinese food even exists? I smell an interesting story...

Nifty! I love the idea of trying all cuisines Hyphen Chinese. The fried rice with chicken sounds great.

Referring back to Calvin Trillin, food writers I've enjoyed reading include Susanna Hoffman (Greek food), MFK Fisher whom you've mentioned, Joseph Wechsberg (Viennese cuisine), and Angelo Pellegrini. Maybe I'll try some Trillin next.
